Volkswagen Reflection
From the 15th of April Workshop
Volkswagen, as an empire that they are have 'screwed up'. Their vehicles permitted deviations in nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx) performance which basically means that Volkswagens cars were not up to standard with US emissions regulations. Although many articles criticised exactly what they did wrong when it comes to PR - deflecting blame and lack of timeliness when addressing the situation. I did not hear about this scandal and did not know that this had happened.
Yes, that could be due to my lack of worldliness and seeing the importance of World News but it could also mean that Volkswagen did something right.
No, not by losing the trust of millions of stakeholders, but from a communications aspect.
Volkswagen will lose public interest, share value and trust from the world because of this scandal. Not only this but an estimated $6.5 Billion will be used to fix and try to mend the situation.
I believe however, that despite all these issues Volkswagen will eventually recover. As MarketShare.com wrote "people eventually forget", it is the truest thing although Volkswagen lied, cheated and exploited its stakeholders in a truly unethical way people will eventually forget.. Even if it does take time.
Eventually everybody forgave Britney Spears 2007 breakdown so I'm sure Volkswagens name will one day live up to its previous reputation
